Surat: Udhna police arrested four persons, including a minor, for the murder of a 50-year-old man who was attacked while intervening in a scuffle involving his son, which stemmed from an old rivalry.According to police, the accused had intended to kill the victim’s son, Vicky Tayde alias Lucky. However, when Vicky managed to flee the spot, the attackers turned on his father, Dhanraj Tayde, who had intervened to defuse the situation.The accused — Dipak Vagh alias Karan, Yogesh Nagarade, Vishal Vagh and a minor — allegedly reached Buddh Mandir Gali in the Udhna area, where Vicky was sitting. Police said Vicky and Karan had a quarrel about one-and-a-half years ago, which had led to a police complaint, and the accused harboured a grudge since then.When the group attempted to attack Vicky, he escaped. As Dhanraj rushed to the spot to find out what was happening, Vishal Vagh and the minor allegedly restrained him, while Karan and Yogesh attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, killing him on the spot.Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
