Surat: A 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint with Amroli police alleging that a man posing as an unmarried real estate broker duped her of Rs 45 lakh on the false promise of marriage, sexually exploited her, and later threatened to circulate her private videos when she demanded either marriage or the return of her money.According to the complaint, the accused came into contact with the woman in Jan 2025 when he visited a relative residing in the victim’s housing society. During their initial interactions, he introduced himself as a real estate broker and claimed that he was unmarried. The two exchanged phone numbers and gradually developed a friendship through regular conversations.Police said the accused later visited the victim’s residence and expressed his desire to marry her. The complaint stated that the accused allegedly persuaded the woman to invest money in his real estate business, claiming that the funds would be returned. Till Feb, the woman reportedly gave the accused Rs 45 lakh in exchange for six cheques.The victim further alleged that the accused took her to a hotel and established physical relations with her under the pretext of marriage. He also allegedly recorded a nude video of her and also obtained her signatures on marriage-related documents.According to the complaint, when the woman began insisting on marriage, the accused allegedly threatened to make the private video viral and defame her. The situation took a turn when a woman allegedly contacted the victim, claiming to be the accused’s wife. She allegedly warned the victim against contacting her husband and also threatened to kill her.Realising that the accused was already married and that she was duped, the woman approached Amroli police and filed a complaint against the accused and his wife.
