Surat district saw heaviest rain

Surat: Intense rain battered South Gujarat between 6am and 8pm on Friday, causing flooding in low-lying areas. Surat district recorded the heaviest rain, with Ambika taluka getting 467mm, including 176mm between 6pm and 8pm.The rain will swell creeks that pass through Surat. Other places in Surat district that were battered were Umarpada (254mm), Mangrol (253mm), Palsana (201mm), Areth (198mm), Bardoli (185mm) and Olpad (170mm). In Valsad district, Dharampur logged 256mm while Valsad city received 140mm.Dang district also got heavy rain, with Subir at 226mm and Waghai at 204mm. In Tapi district, Dolvan reported 345mm, while Valod recorded 147mm and Vyara 142mm by 8pm.
