Surat: Mist-covered hills, cascading waterfalls and lush green valleys will once again become the backdrop for a 22-day celebration as Gujarat’s only hill station Saputara gears up for the Megh Malhar Festival 2026, beginning Aug 8.The annual monsoon festival is aimed not just at showcasing Saputara’s dramatic rainy-season landscape but also at encouraging tourists to stay longer, giving a boost to local businesses and creating employment opportunities in the tribal Dang district.The festival has emerged as a major attraction for Saputara, drawing lakhs of visitors from Gujarat and neighbouring states. Senior state leaders are likely to attend the inauguration.District administration and tourism department officials have held a series of meetings to finalise arrangements for the event, including tourist facilities and the schedule of cultural programmes.The festival will feature music, dance and other performances, along with programmes showcasing the rich tribal culture of the Dang region. Artists from different fields are expected to participate in the events.
