Surat: A 49-year-old man posing as a BAMS doctor was arrested after Amroli police raided an illegal clinic in the Chhapra Bhatha area. Medicines, injections, IV sets, syrups and abortion pills were seized from the clinicThe accused, identified as D K Singh, holds a Master’s degree in Arts (MA) and allegedly falsely claimed to possess a BAMS degree.Acting on a tip-off, Amroli police inspector J B Vanar and his team sought assistance from the Surat district health office. The district health officer deputed Dr Mahendra Patel and pharmacist Shailesh Tadha to join the raid.The team raided Rushabh Clinic in Chhannu Colony, where a signboard displayed the name “Dr D K Singh, BAMS”. Inside, Singh was found examining a patient and prescribing medicines. When asked to produce his medical qualifications, he failed to provide any valid degree.During preliminary questioning, Singh admitted to operating the clinic without a recognised medical qualification. He told police that he had worked as a compounder at a nursing home in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh for 10 years.Police arrested Singh and seized medicines and kits worth around Rs 30,000 from the clinic. He has been booked under the BNS and the Gujarat Medical Practitioners Act.
