Surat: A trader’s Goa holiday ended before it even began after he allegedly opened the emergency exit door of a Surat-Goa IndiGo flight moments before take-off on Tuesday.The incident occurred around 3 pm at Surat International Airport when the aircraft was preparing for departure. Following the incident, airport officials and CISF personnel rushed to the aircraft, deboarded passenger Hitendra Maniya and handed him over to Dumas police for investigation.Dumas police inspector M V Patel told TOI, “Maniya admitted that he opened the door but claimed it happened accidentally while he was trying to recline his seat by holding what he thought was the seat handle. In the process, the emergency door opened. He immediately informed a cabin crew member, who alerted the pilot. We are investigating whether there was any motive behind the act.”According to police, Maniya was travelling to Goa with his friends on IndiGo flight 6E-419, scheduled to depart at 3.20 pm. He was seated in 19A, a window seat adjacent to the emergency exit.
