Surat: A 39-year-old man was murdered by five members of a family after he confronted them over their teenage son for allegedly making sexually suggestive gestures his daughter in the Limbayat area late on Sunday night.The Limbayat Police Station have arrested four adults and detained a minor in connection with the case.Police said the incident occurred around 11pm when Irfan Ali Saiyed (39), along with his brother-in-law Khalik Sheikh and nephew Iqbal, was attacked with a knife by Amjad Maniyar (45), his wife Jebunnisha (44), their sons Avesh (20) and Aman (18), and their 16-year-old son.The three injured were rushed to the New Civil Hospital, where Irfan Ali succumbed to his injuries.According to police sources, the dispute began earlier in the day when the 16-year-old allegedly assaulted Irfan’s 15-year-old daughter. When the girl and her mother confronted the teenager, members of his family allegedly arrived and assaulted them. Later in the night, the group allegedly attacked Irfan and his relatives with a knife, resulting in the fatal injury.Inspector D D Chauhan said police teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident and arrested the four adults while detaining the minor involved.After the incident, angry residents vandalised vehicles belonging to the accused family, alleging they were notorious in the locality. Police intervened and detained the suspects while deploying additional security in the area to prevent further tension.The police have invoked sections of murder, indulging in obscene acts in a public place, assault and others in the FIR against the assailants.Youth’s Throat Slit After Minor ScuffleSurat: A minor scuffle over a push allegedly led to the murder of a youth in the Limbayat police station area. Police said Nasim Shaikh was sitting at a paan shop in Madhunagar with his friends Sudhakar and Jehrulla Shaikh when Sudhakar received a call from his wife asking him to bring an electrician home. The trio accompanied the electrician to Sudhakar’s house. While the electrician was carrying out the repair work, Jehrulla was sitting on a two-wheeler outside. At that time, Krunal Brahmane (18), Sumit Bedse (20) and two minors were passing by. A minor altercation broke out after one of them allegedly pushed Jehrulla. During the argument, one of the accused allegedly pulled out a knife and slit Jehrulla’s throat. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them. Police have arrested the accused.
