Surat: A day after resident doctorYogen Prajapati died by suicide at Government Medical College in Surat, his father has sought the CCTV footage of the area where the incident took place. He also said it was difficult for the family to believe that his son, whom he described as a strong person, had taken his own life.“When I asked the college authorities for the CCTV footage of the place where the incident occurred, they told me that the CCTV contract was with a private firm and they would have to email the Delhi office to obtain the footage. They said it would take some time. It is strange that the college has to seek permission to access its own CCTV footage,” said Dilip Prajapati, Yogen’s father.Meanwhile, police are awaiting statements from the doctor’s family before proceeding further with the investigation. “We are looking into various aspects, including his medical history, the examination angle and possible personal issues. The circumstances will become clearer after we record statements from his family members,” a police officer said. The officer said the family had taken Yogen’s body for the last rites and was expected to return in about three days to record their statements.
