Delivery boy swaps garments worth ₹4L with cheaper varieties, cops launch probe

Surat: A delivery boy working for Amazon has allegedly swapped 260 branded garments worth approximately Rs 4.05 lakh with cheaper clothes and diverted the original items for sale on footpaths, prompting a police investigation.According to the FIR registered at Sachin police station, the complainant, Yagnesh Patel, works as a manager at Thread Bucket Studio, a Sachin-based firm dealing in women’s readymade garments. The company sells its products through e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart and Ajio.On Oct 14, Patel was informed by the firm’s owner that garments bearing the company’s brand name were being sold on footpaths in Vesu and Godadara. As readymade garments are commonly sold on footpaths every Wednesday, Patel visited the area to verify the information. There, he allegedly found Kavya Jaiswal selling garments belonging to his company’s brand. Patel immediately alerted the police, who questioned her about the source of the merchandise.During questioning, Kavya contacted her husband, Ravi Jaiswal, who told police that he purchased the garments from Naresh Bawishkar, an Amazon delivery worker. The investigation revealed that Bawishkar had substituted 260 garments from parcels he collected from the firm.Sachin police have registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 316(3), 317(2) and 54. Police have launched a further investigation into the garment-swapping racket.
