Surat: A Class IX student was allegedly attacked with a knife by her female classmate at an ashram shala (tribal residential school) following some argument in Tapi district. The accused, a 13-year-old girl, has been detained, and Valod police launched an investigation into the incident.According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the girl called the victim to a bathroom, where she attempted to strangle her and later attacked her with a knife.The victim sustained a deep injury to her right wrist and was rushed to hospital for treatment. Doctors reportedly had to administer around 20 stitches on her hand.Preliminary investigations suggest that the assailant girl was upset that the victim was not willing to befriend her or speak to her. “Following the altercation, she attacked the victim. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way,” a police officer said.
