Police intensified combing and patrolling operations in the area

Surat: A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death in Limbayat on Wednesday, the second murder in the area in four days, prompting police to intensify patrolling and detain three suspects.According to police, Ashifkhan Pathan (26), was attacked after a quarrel with Kalimuddin Shaikh, Shehzad Siddiqui and Mohammad Dilshad Raees. The FIR states that Pathan was stabbed at least 10 times, in his hands, legs, forehead, neck and back.The attack was so severe that the weapon got lodged in his back. Pathan was rushed to SMIMER Hospital and later shifted to Apple Hospital but died there before doctors could begin treatment.The murder comes days after a boy was killed in Limbayat on Sunday. In that case, police shot the suspect in the leg on Monday after he allegedly attacked a police team.After the latest killing, additional police commissioner Balram Meena carried went on a night patrol through Limbayat with inspector D D Chauhan and 200 other personnel to maintain law and order.“We have identified areas in the city for combing and patrolling. We have started with Limbayat, with 200 policemen from various police stations. We will act under the Gujarat Police Act and the Motor Vehicles Act and punish the violators,” Meena said.Sources said Limbayat police detained all three accused late on Wednesday evening. Further investigation is underway.
