Surat: Two elderly men were rescued from a two-storey house that collapsed in the Rani Talav area early on Monday. Those trapped inside the house suffered minor injuries.Surat Fire and Emergency Services received a call around 7.11am, after which fire teams reached the spot. When the fire teams arrived, they found that portions of the second floor and first floor had collapsed.“Neighbours told us that two people were trapped on the first floor. We climbed the neighbouring building and carried out the rescue,” said a fire official.Khalid Petiwala, 69, and Saeed Petiwala, 67, had been trapped on the first floor. Paramedics was called and examined the two elderly men at the spot. They did not suffer major injuries.The house was old and its wooden beams were damaged, which caused the partial collapse. There were no other persons inside except the two men. The SFES team informed Surat Municipal Corporation officials and police about the collapse.
