50 trains cancelled before services restored

Surat: Due to incessant heavy rainfall in South Gujarat, particularly between Gholvad and Valsad in the Mumbai division over the past few days, Western Railway faced major operational disruptions.Water levels rose above the danger mark at Bridge No. 203 between Gholvad and Umergaon Road stations, Bridge No. 230 at Sanjan Yard, and Bridge No. 284 between Udvada and Valsad on July 23. Severe waterlogging was also reported at Bilimora Yard, while rain-induced breaches were detected at Amalsad and between Udvada and Pardi on July 23 and 24.As a result, more than 50 trains were cancelled and 25 were short-terminated at various stations.Following restoration efforts, train movement on the Up line (towards Mumbai) resumed from Valsad at around 1.45am on Friday after water levels receded and safety inspections were completed. Speed restrictions remained in place. Western Railway fully restored operations on both lines at around 2pm after completing repairs to the rain-cut sections at Amalsad and between Udvada and Pardi.
