Surat: A 29-year-old woman who works in housekeeping services at a textile company was raped in the Ichhapore police station jurisdiction on Sunday morning, by a man who offered her a job and lured her away from safety by pretending to show her the workplace. When the victim grew suspicious and tried to flee, the accused used criminal force to rape her and threatened her with a knife. According to police, the victim is a housekeeping worker in a textile company in Ichhapore. She boarded a bus to go to work on Sunday morning. The accused, who boarded the bus a couple of stops after her, began talking to her. He identified himself as Avinesh Chaurasiya and told her that he needed to hire two or three women fitting the victim’s profile for a certain company. He told her the job timing would be 9am to 4pm. After both got off the bus, he told her the workplace was nearby and she could have a look at it. She agreed to do so and went with the accused in an autorickshaw till Ichhapore Diamond Bourse. The man then led her to a construction site, saying she would have to clean the fourth floor. As the victim got suspicious and tried to flee, the accused followed her, caught her and raped her. He threatened her with a knife, saying he would kill her if she didn’t stop crying and if she spoke a word about what had happened. Ichhapore police filed a complaint for rape and criminal intimidation. As the accused is suspected to have left the state, a police team has been sent after him.
