Valuables worth 17L looted from bungalow

Surat: Varachha police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a theft worth Rs 17 lakh from a bungalow in Sadhna Society. The accused allegedly found the home keys under the pillow of the security guard before entering the house and stealing valuables from multiple rooms.The accused, identified as Sohil Parmar, was apprehended near Anand district while travelling to his native place in Bhavnagar.The victim, Keyur Kheni (38), a hotelier near Antroli bullet train station, said the incident took place on Friday night. The family went to bed around midnight, while Parmar allegedly entered the house at 1.30am. Noticing that security guard Chandan was asleep, he initially planned to steal a purse or mobile, but found the keys to the home under the guard’s pillow.Parmar then accessed the guest room, a bedroom, and the temple, reportedly stealing cameras, two mobiles, costly watches, goggles, gold, silver, and Rs 10 lakh in cash. The theft occurred while Kheni and his family slept in other rooms. Kheni discovered the missing valuables at 8am and checked CCTV footage, after which he informed the police.Police inspector RB Gojiya said, “As soon as we received information at 10am, we formed teams and, using human and technical surveillance, arrested the accused within three hours at Tarapur in Anand district. The accused was travelling on a state transport bus to Bhavnagar. All stolen items have been recovered.”.
