Surat: A chilling drama unfolded at a high-rise residential tower in Surat on Thursday morning when a 57-year-old man slipped from the window of his 10th-floor apartment and was left hanging precariously between floors, triggering panic among residents and a tense rescue operation by firefighters. The incident occurred around 8am at the Time Galaxy-A building in the Jahangirabad area. The man, identified as Nitin Adiya, was reportedly sleeping close to the window of his apartment when he accidentally slipped out. As he fell, fate intervened—his leg got caught in the window grille with an external projection of an apartment on the 8th floor, leaving him suspended mid-air, helpless and in visible distress.Residents of the building were jolted awake by screams and commotion as they spotted Adiya dangling several storeys above the ground.Within minutes, the fire control room was alerted, and teams from the Surat Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot. With Adiya stuck between floors and unable to move, even a minor misstep could have resulted in a fatal fall. Fire personnel quickly assessed the structure and began a carefully choreographed rescue operation. One team accessed the 8th floor and cut open the window grill to create an entry point, while another team worked from the 10th floor, lowering ropes and safety belts to secure the victim and prevent any sudden movement. For nearly an hour, firefighters battled gravity, height, and limited space as anxious residents watched from balconies and corridors. The man was rescued and immediately shifted to a hospital with injuries. Doctors said he was conscious at the time of admission. Adiya suffered a fracture in his leg and was admitted for treatment. However, no case had been registered with regard to the incident till late evening.
