Surat: The district authorities here published the draft voter roll on Friday with 36,23,193 voters as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter rolls. After the house-to-house survey by BLOs from Nov 4 to Dec 14, Surat district authorities mapped 25,05,311 voters successfully, while 11,17,882 voters are yet to be mapped. The draft list has 18.78 lakh male, 17.44 lakh female and 100 third-gender voters.Surat district collector Sourabh Pardhi told TOI: “We will soon start serving notices to the 11.17 lakh voters who could not be mapped for various reasons. Each electoral registration officer (ERO) will issue 50 notices a day to unmapped voters once the process begins. This will go on for approximately one month before the final list is out in Feb.”With the draft list out, the district election authority also declared that they will accept forms from new voters. Those who have not submitted enumeration forms or have not received enumeration forms can also apply through Form 6 with the necessary documents so their names can be entered on the final list.The Surat district election authority has appointed 850 EROs who will start issuing notices to the 11.77 lakh unmapped voters. These voters are in three categories and need to submit various documents according to their birth year to keep their name on the draft list.Officials made it clear that 12.50 lakh voters did not return enumeration forms during the SIR. These voters have not been included on the draft list. Surat voters can see their names on the draft list on the ECI and CEO Gujarat websites, apart from Surat.nic.in.
