Surat: To improve fresh water distribution in the city’s coastal areas, including Dumas, Sultanabad, Bhimpore and nearby localities, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is developing new water infrastructure near Surat International Airport at an estimated cost of Rs 77 crore.The project includes the construction of a 120-lakh-litre underground water tank along with a booster house, toilet blocks and security cabins. In addition, five overhead water tanks will be built, and an extensive pipeline network will be laid to strengthen water distribution in the area.The proposal has been submitted for approval to the corporation’s top office-bearers. The initiative is also aimed at modernising the city’s infrastructure and ensuring sustainable water management.Notably, SMC is also developing the Dumas Sea Face project, and several residential and commercial developments are coming up in the surrounding areas.
