Surat: A single mother working as a make-up artist has alleged that she was blackmailed, sexually assaulted and financially exploited by her former boyfriend and his family, who allegedly pressured her to continue their relationship even after her marriage by threatening to leak intimate photos and harm her child.Following her complaint, the Rander police have registered a case of rape against both accused.The 33-year-old woman stated that she was in a relationship with Yusuf, the brother of her female friend, before her marriage in 2011. After ending the relationship, she unexpectedly met him again in 2013, which led to their physical relationship being renewed.She further alleged that while they were involved, she wanted to purchase a flat for her family. Yusuf sold his flat to her and her husband for Rs 18 lakh, and continued to live there as a tenant.According to the complaint, in 2022, when Yusuf required money for his divorce, his sister allegedly threatened to disclose details of the past relationship to the victim’s husband unless she paid up. Under sustained pressure, the woman claimed she handed over cash and jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh.The victim further alleged that when she later went to give Rs 2.5 lakh to Yusuf’s brother, Sohail, he harassed her, forced her into a car and raped her, threatening to circulate the intimate material and harm her child if she resisted.14-year-old girl raped on terraceA 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man living in her building in Pandesara. Police said that the accused took the girl on the terrace when her mother and two sisters went for work. He took her near the water tank and allegdly raped her. He also threatened to kill the victim if she revealed anything to her family. However, a neighbour who saw her with the accused informed her mother. When her mother inquired, she broke down, following which a complaint was filed.
