SURAT: A senior citizen woman was attacked by her husband in Surat’s family court on Friday morning. After the attack, the husband also tried to die by suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. After the attack, both were shifted to hospital for further treatment. Umra police reached the spot and launched the investigation.The incident took place in the family court situated in Surat Jilla Seva Sadan in the Athwalines area. The accused and the victim were present in the court for the hearing of a maintenance and recovery plea.The accused was sitting in the next row, while his wife was sitting ahead of him. He pulled out a bottle of acid he brought and attacked her. The victim reportedly suffered injuries near her eyes and other parts of her body. Some drops of acid also fell on lawyers sitting around her.According to the woman’s lawyer, the husband, a senior citizen, also attacked her in the past, and an attempt to murder case was filed by Umra police at that time. The accused was on bail when he came for the hearing on Friday.
