Surat: Sachin GIDC police on Saturday arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a textile worker in the Sachin GIDC area, following a dispute that occurred over a week ago.Police said the conflict began when the victim, Gagan Das, also known as Gaurav, an employee at Laxmi Villa Industries, was at Panchvati Garden in Talangpur village with a female friend. Nineteen-year-old Gautam Dalai allegedly began filming the couple, sparking an argument during which Das reportedly slapped Dalai twice.Following the incident, Das is said to have challenged Dalai and shared his workplace address. Holding a grudge, Dalai, along with co-accused Dilip Nigwal (25), reportedly spent the following week searching for Das near his unit. On Saturday night, the two accused reportedly spotted Das near Unit-F/800 in Laxmi Textile Park. Dalai confronted him and stabbed him with a sharp weapon, leaving Das critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.Police Inspector K A Gohil told TOI, “We obtained CCTV footage from nearby units and shops and identified both accused. Using technical and human surveillance, we arrested them within hours. The knife and motorcycle used in the crime have also been seized.”BOXWoman’s verbal abuse sparks video recordingDuring the investigation, police revealed that the altercation began when Das’s female friend confronted Dalai in the park, questioning why he was staring at her. When Dalai denied staring, she allegedly verbally abused him. In response, Dalai reportedly began recording a video on his phone while being abused.
