Surat: A 21-year-old man and his father were arrested for allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old whom they suspected of recording a video of their relative’s first night of marriage.Police said the accused had seized the man’s mobile phone for two days in an attempt to find the alleged video. When no such video was found, they returned the phone — but attacked him with a knife, insisting he must have recorded it.According to the complaint, the victim, who lives in the Bhestan area, had attended his friend’s wedding in Gopi Talav a week earlier. After the ceremony, a rumour spread that someone had filmed the couple’s first night. Following this rumour, the bride’s brother, father and other relatives repeatedly called the victim, who was a friend of the groom, and demanded the video. Although nothing was found on his phone, they continued to suspect him. On Wednesday night, the bride’s 21-year-old brother contacted the victim again, took him to his house in the Athwalines police station area and called his father there. The duo allegedly assaulted him, during which the 21-year-old stabbed him in the thighs, hand and shoulder. As people gathered, a 108 ambulance arrived and shifted the injured victim to the civil hospital. A complaint was later filed under relevant sections of the BNS, and the bride’s brother and father were arrested.
