Man Held For Sending Notice As Labour Commissioner | Surat

Surat: Police arrested a 38-year-old man on Thursday in Pandesara for allegedly sending a fake notice to a textile unit for violation of labour laws. The accused prepared the notice on a bogus letterhead of the labour commissioner’s office and used a bogus sign and stamp of the assistant labour commissioner.
Police arrested Sushant Tripathi, a resident of Fulpada at Ashwini Kumar Road in Katargam, for forgery, use of forged documents and posing as a government official. The complaint was lodged at Pandesara police station by assistant labour commissioner Santosh Dube.
According to the police complaint, the accused sent the forged notice through mail to Oliya Silk Mills. He sent copies of the notice to other government offices as well.
“The notice was regarding non-payment of salary to an employee and other violations of labour laws. He sent copies to different government offices and one copy was marked to the collector’s office as well,” said a police officer.
“The collector’s office forwarded it to the labour department and that was when labour officials came to know about it. They then approached the police,” said police.
Police traced the accused through the mail ID he had used. Police investigation revealed that Tripathi used to complain against industries to various authorities for violation of different laws.
“We are investigating if Tripathi issued similar forged notices to other companies. Who is helping Tripathi in the racket is also being investigated,” said police.
