Surat: A major fire broke out early Friday morning at an open plot used as a scrapyard in Dindoli, where a large quantity of waste cloth was stored, officials said. No casualties were reported.The fire, which started around 3am, quickly spread due to highly inflammable polyester bundles stored in the yard. Residents in the eastern outskirts of the city reported seeing flames and smoke from a distance.
Fire teams managed to control the blaze and prevented it from spreading to neighbouring areas. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.In recent months, several major fires have been reported in illegal scrapyards in Surat and across south Gujarat.
