Industrial worker from Punjab murdered in Hazira

Surat: A 32-year-old industrial worker from Punjab was allegedly murdered by his two roommates following a quarrel in Junagam under Hazira police station limits. The victim, Shera Singh (32), was found with multiple injuries, and police have sent a team to Punjab as the accused fled to their native villages soon after the incident.According to the complaint filed by Mehul Patel, owner of a 14-room property in Junagam, Room No. 1 had been rented to labour contractor Deepu Singh, who works with an L&T contractor in Hazira. At Deepu Singh’s request, the room was allotted to Shera Singh and Sarabjit Singh (33), both natives of Dhadialanatt village in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. A few days later, Amrik Singh (30), a resident of Asal Uttar village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, also moved into the same room.Patel told police that he had frequently seen the three men engaged in heated arguments and had repeatedly warned them to stop quarrelling.On the evening of Jan 17, Patel visited the premises and noticed the door of Room No. 1 open. On entering, he found Shera Singh lying injured and bleeding, with wounds on his head, eyes and other parts of the body. Patel informed the police, called an ambulance and alerted Deepu Singh.During a search of the room and surrounding area, Sarabjit Singh and Amrik Singh were found missing, and their mobile phones were switched off, raising suspicion of their involvement.Shera Singh was declared dead while being taken to hospital. A post-mortem examination revealed multiple injuries to the head, face, throat and body caused by both blunt and sharp weapons.Police have registered a murder case against both accused.
