‘growth Rate Has Slowed Under Bjp Rule’ | Surat

Surat: Ahead of the Assembly elections, senior Congress leaders from Delhi have started visiting the city. On Saturday, AICC national spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi was in Surat.
Singhvi targeted BJP for “slow growth rate” compared to UPA government’s time, inflation and unemployment in Gujarat. However, the Congress leader did not elaborate how his party would solve the issues if voted to power. He refused to comment on how many seats Congress was eyeing.
Singhvi compared the seven-year period of UPA government with that of the BJP government and claimed that the current government’s policies led to slow growth. He alleged that the economic condition was the result of the government not working as per advice of economic experts.
Singhvi claimed that Gujarat’s unemployment rate was one of the highest in the country. However, he was not able to provide details of the steps that Congress was planning to take to address this issue.
“In Gujarat, 17 lakh people have applied for 3,400 posts of talati,” he said. He added that Congress will not make fake promises ahead of polls.
Singhvi claimed that 60,000 MSME units had closed down in Gujarat between 2004 and 2014. But he was not able to share the comparative data of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh where Congress is now in power. “I don’t have the comparative data of unemployment of other states readily available with me,” Singhvi replied.
In reply to a question about the number of seats Congress is eyeing to win, Singhvi said: “We are not making claims at present about the seats but we are winning the election.”
Recently, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit visited the city and addressed the media to “expose” the AAP government. Dikshit claimed that AAP was making false claims and people in Gujarat should not get misled.
