Surat: A major fire swept through a plastic manufacturing unit in Dadra village’s industrial area on Monday night, spreading to nearby buildings and triggering an overnight firefighting operation. No casualties were reported.According to officials, the blaze started around 10:15pm at Liza Industries. Fire tenders from the civic body as well as nearby industrial areas were deployed, and at least 15 firefighting vehicles were pressed into service.Firefighting operations continued through the night until 9am on Tuesday, after which the cooling process was carried out and completed around 11am. “A team of firefighters has been kept at the site to respond immediately in case of a flare-up,” a Silvassa fire official said.Officials said a large quantity of material stored in the unit had caught fire, prompting calls for additional reinforcements as the flames began spreading to neighbouring buildings.
