Surat: A 28-year-old social media influencer, Hiren Buha, hit two motorcycles with his SUV on Thursday night, while allegedly driving drunk. One of the motorcycles was even dragged by the SUV for a few metres. Members of the public gathered after the accident and assaulted Buha on finding him to be drunk. As a liquor bottle was found in the SUV, people called Utran police who arrested him.Utran inspector D U Barad told TOI: “Hiren Buha was arrested, and his blood sample has been sent for testing to Civil Hospital. It was proven that he was drunk, as we booked him for drunk driving under the Motor Vehicles Act and Prohibition Act. We also found a liquor bottle in his car. We seized his SUV, which is registered in Junagadh, his home town.” The accident took place on Dukhiya Na Darbar Road in Utran around midnight. Buha was in his SUV when he hit two motorcycles. Two persons were injured and were taken to hospital. Buha had emblazoned his Instagram handle on his car bonnet. Locals checked the account and purportedly found many reels promoting liquor. Buha could be seen drinking liquor in many of reels. In one ironic reel, he played a policeman raiding his friends who were having a liquor party. The reels also allegedly promote gambling and tobacco. The account has about 8 lakh followers.
