Cops Stop Penalising Traffic Violators | Surat

Surat: The traffic police stopped penalising the traffic offenders in the city on Saturday following minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi’s announcement on Friday that the police across the state will not collect fines for traffic violations starting midnight of October 21 to October 27 during Diwali festivities.
On Saturday, police instead offered roses to traffic offenders. The symbolic events were held at multiple locations in the presence of senior police officers. Police will continue this drive.
“We are offering roses to the traffic offenders; we will also offer roses to those who follow the rules in order to honour them. The events will take place at different locations at different times,” said a police officer.
Police officers will continue the drive at crossroads and locations where accidents often take place. Initiatives to stop penalising commuters are often organised and during such campaigns, those following rules are felicitated. TNN
