‘cong Insulted Tribals, They Will Teach Party A Lesson’ | Surat

SURAT: Accusing the Congress governments of ignoring tribals welfare and using them merely for electoral gains, Prime Minister Narenda Modi said on Thursday that the community will teach a lesson to the party.
Modi was addressing a public rally after dedicating projects worth Rs 2,192 crores in Gunsada village of Tapi district.
He censured the Congress for scoffing at tribal traditions and culture and said that the community will never forget this ‘insult.’
“Congress even used to make fun of tribal customs and traditions. If I wore a tribal pagdi (headgear) or jacket in a function, they used to make fun of me. I want to tell the Congress that the tribal population won’t forget the insult of their customs and traditions and they will teach you a lesson,” Modi said.
“You have seen earlier governments. Compare Congress governments of the past with the present BJP-led governments in different states. Congress governments never cared about your future and they would only work for winning elections. Before the polls, they used to make false promises, but after elections they would forget them,” he said.
On the other hand, the BJP government has given top priority for tribal welfare by providing them pucca houses with electricity and gas connections, road connectivity and schools for the children.
Dwelling on the past hardships faced by tribals, Modi said his government is relentlessly working to ensure that the youth today don’t face the same drudgery.
Speaking on the heights of success achieved by tribals, the PM said, “A tribal woman has become the President of the country and a tribal from Gujarat, Mangubhai Patel, is the governor of Madhya Pradesh.” Modi also spoke about the Wadi (orchard) project initiated for tribal farmers, which had even drawn the attention of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who had personally visited here.
“The project was later implemented in other parts of the country,” he said.
Modi also announced that museums will be developed at all those locations in the country where tribals fought for freedom and sacrificed their lives for the country.
“Saputara and Statue of Unity have become key centres of economic growth. Now, the new highway connecting the hill station to SOU will usher in unprecedented development for tribals besides shortening the distance between these tourist places,” Modi added.
