Surat: Three days after city-based builder Tushar Ghelani shot himself at his residence, doctors on Wednesday declared him brain dead, prompting his family to take the decision to donate his organs.Ghelani’s daughter, wife and father conveyed their consent late on Wednesday evening.In a statement, his daughter Tanvi Ghelani said, “As my father was declared brain dead by doctors at Mahavir Hospital, the family, including my mother Pallavi and grandfather Dr Harjibhai Ghelani, decided to donate all organs of my father. We also gave permission to SOTTO and Mahavir Hospital for the same.”In a separate statement, Dr Harjibhai Ghelani, Tushar’s father, also confirmed his consent for his elder son’s organ donation.Ghelani (58), a well-known real estate developer behind several residential and commercial projects under the ‘Jolly’ brand, allegedly attempted suicide at his home in the Parle Point area on Sunday morning. He shot himself in the forehead using his licensed revolver.His daughter’s marriage was scheduled for Feb 5, and a traditional ritual of ‘Kankotri Lekhan’ (invitation card unveiling) was planned at his bungalow in Sangam Society on Sunday.
