Boa stuck in tar at godown rescued

Surat: A wildlife activist rescued a boa constrictor that got stuck in tar at a godown in the Kabilpore area of Navsari, in a rescue operation that lasted more than two hours. After removing the tar from the snake’s body, it was handed over to the forest department to be released into the wild.Wildlife rescuer Harish Mali got a call from Bhavesh Prajapati, who initially reported that a juvenile python had got stuck in some tar at his godown. Mali reached there around 9am and began the rescue.“From a distance, the pattern of a boa constrictor resembles that of a python, which is why Prajapati thought it was a young python,” Mali said. “I found the snake alive but unable to move as a large portion of its body was stuck in the tar.”Mali first cut the hardened tar around the snake to lift it safely. He then used various liquids to carefully clean the tar from its scales. “It took over two hours to remove the tar completely. After the rescue, the snake was handed over to the forest department to be released in the wild,” he added. The incident occurred at Prajapati’s godown, where drums of tar are stored for use in road construction. Some of the tar had spilled on the floor, which had trapped the snake.
