Surat: An Aam Aadmi Party worker has been booked for allegedly deceiving a woman to have sexual intercourse, with police launching a manhunt after the accused went absconding.Police registered a case against the man, a resident of Laskana, for allegedly sexually exploiting a 38-year-old woman multiple times since Dec 2024. He is believed to have fled late Friday night after learning that a complaint was being filed.According to the FIR, the complainant, who lives with her teenage son, came into contact with the accused on Facebook about a year ago, and their online interaction gradually developed into a relationship.The woman, who runs a home-based soap and shampoo business, alleged that the accused gained her trust by claiming he had serious marital issues and that his wife was living separately. He allegedly promised to divorce his wife and marry her.She alleged that he promised to marry her and sexually exploited her at her residence and at various hotels in the city. When she later insisted on marriage, he reportedly refused.The complainant also alleged that the accused threatened her and her son with dire consequences if she pursued the matter. She claimed he tried to intimidate her by referring to a past case, warning that her life would become difficult.Police have formed teams and sent them outside Surat to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation is underway.
