SURAT: Four Mumbai residents travelling to a Jain pilgrimage site in Gujarat were killed on Friday morning after their car crashed into a stationary dumper parked on the side of the Bharatmala Expressway in Surat district, police said.The Maharashtra-registered car, suspected to be speeding, rammed into the dumper near Dhatva village in Kamrej taluka, killing all four occupants on the spot.The accident occurred around 8 am when the car was travelling from Mumbai towards Delhi on the expressway, Kamrej police station inspector R B Gojiya said.The four occupants were on their way to the Sankheshwar Jain pilgrimage site in Patan district of Gujarat when the accident took place, he said.According to police, the car rammed into a dumper parked in the fifth lane of the expressway. The impact was so severe that all four occupants died at the spot.The deceased were identified as Rajiv Jain, Jayanti Doshi, Pravin Jain and Sanjay Khemchand, all aged between 35 and 40 years, Gojiya said.Rajiv Jain, who originally hailed from Rajasthan, owned a jewellery shop in Mumbai, according to the police officer.Police are conducting an investigation into the accident.(With PTI inputs)
