SURAT: A massive fire broke out at a textile market in Surat’s Saroli area early on Wednesday, engulfing the top floors of the market in flames and triggering a major emergency response from the fire departmentThe Surat Fire and Emergency Services declared a Major Call and deployed more than 15 fire tenders from 13 fire stations to the spot.No casualties have been reported so far, though the extent of the damage to property and goods is yet to be assessed.The blaze remained out of control even after more than five hours, with fire crews continuing their efforts to contain it. A large quantity of textile stock stored inside the market was reportedly caught in the fire, raising fears of huge losses.Fire officials and teams have been working continuously to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining shops and buildings. Firefighting operations are underway.
