Surat: Varachha police have arrested a 25-year-old textile unit owner for allegedly raping a minor girl who worked at his unit.Police said the accused had allegedly lured the girl with a promise of marriage and called her to his office every night.According to the complaint, after the minor’s family members fell asleep, the girl went to her workplace as directed by the accused. Around 1am on Sunday, her aunt noticed that she was missing from her bed and alerted the girl’s uncle.The uncle searched for her and eventually found her at the workplace with the accused. After learning that the girl had allegedly been raped, he approached Varachha police and lodged a complaint.Varachha police inspector A R Vala told TOI that sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Pocso Act have been invoked against the accused. The accused has been arrested and further investigations are underway.
