Surat: Adajan police arrested a 22-year-old Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) student for allegedly stalking a 24-year-old woman, and posting their photographs on social media to defame her.The accused, a final-year BHMS student at a college in Vadodara, threatened to die by suicide after she rejected his advances,According to police, the accused had known the woman for the past couple of years and had taken photographs with her when they were friends. However, after the woman made it clear that she did not wish to pursue a relationship and asked him to stop contacting her, he allegedly began stalking her and repeatedly tried to force her into communicating with him.When his attempts failed, he allegedly uploaded photographs of the two together on Instagram on June 20 in an attempt to malign her. Police said he also sent a message to the woman’s brother on Instagram, threatening to end his life and implicate the woman and her family members in a suicide note.As the alleged stalking and threats continued, the woman approached Adajan police, who registered a case. He has been booked for stalking, criminal intimidation and criminal defamation.
