Surat: Flooding in Valsad district submerged several areas, prompting the district administration to seek aerial assistance as rescue boats were unable to reach certain locations. With ground access severely restricted and even NDRF boats finding it difficult to operate in some places, the administration deployed a helicopter from the Daman Coast Guard to carry out rescues.The first rescue mission was launched in the Salvav area of Vapi, near a car showroom, where a man climbed onto an electric pole to save his life amid rising waters. According to information received from the Valsad district flood control cell, the person was on the pole for a few hours.After the district authorities were notified, a helicopter rescue operation was carried out in the evening. The helicopter deployment is expected to significantly improve response at where rescue boats cannot reach due to strong currents or blocked routes, officials said.The arrival of aerial support is likely to enhance flood relief efforts and enable timely evacuation of people trapped in inaccessible areas across the district.
