SURAT: A moving tanker got stuck after a road caved in near G9 Circle in Surat’s Dindoli area on Thursday, triggering traffic snarls and panic among commuters.The road suddenly gave way at the middle of a crossroads, leaving the heavy vehicle stranded and blocking traffic from multiple directions.Civic officials said the cave-in occurred at a stretch where storm water drainage work had recently been completed. A 1,000-mm-diameter pipeline had been laid around 4.5 metres below the surface, after which the trench was refilled and the road restored.However, the repaired portion reportedly collapsed after the soil beneath it settled.The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched repair work immediately, cordoned off the affected stretch, and undertook restoration on priority. Officials later said the damaged road had been repaired and normal traffic movement was restored after the initial disruption.
