Surat: A 65-year-old man accused in a car theft case died after allegedly drinking toilet cleaner at Sachin police station on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Badruddin Saiyed, who had been brought to Surat from Godhra after police suspected his involvement in a car theft in the Sachin police jurisdiction.Police said Saiyed was being interrogated at the police station when he asked permission to use the toilet. After coming out, he complained of stomach pain and began vomiting. When questioned by police personnel, Saiyed told them he had drunk toilet cleaner liquid. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to a larger medical facility, where he died during treatment. Police said Saiyed was a history-sheeter with 15 cases registered against him at various police stations across Gujarat.
