Surat: The special operations group (SOG) of Valsad police seized a cannabis plant weighing 2.3kg, valued at Rs 1.15 lakh, from Chavshala village in Kaprada taluka on Tuesday.Acting on a tip-off about illegal cultivation in Sheri Faliya, the SOG team raided the residence of Rambhu Gagoda (32), a mason, and found the plant growing next to the wall of his house.Police also seized a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000, taking the total value of the seizure to Rs 1.20 lakh.A case has been registered at Kaprada police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police said the action was part of an ongoing drive against the cultivation, sale and consumption of banned narcotics.
