Surat: Four members of a family from Khambhat were killed in an accident early Wednesday when their car hit a stationary goods truck on the Bharatmala Expressway near Ena in Surat district, police said.The accident occurred when the car, headed towards Kim, crashed into the rear of the truck near Dastan village. Police said the truck had stopped on the highway after its front-left tyre burst.Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had been parked without warning signs, barricades, reflective indicators or parking lights, posing a serious hazard to passing traffic.All four occupants of the car suffered fatal injuries. The deceased were identified as Hozefa Adenwala, Murtaza Adenwala, Munira Adenwala and Joyeb Murtaza Adenwala, residents of Vohrawad in Khambhat’s Islampura area of Anand district.The truck driver, whose identity is yet to be established, fled the scene after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind. Police registered a case against him at Palsana police station based on a complaint filed by Aliasgar Dodiya.Further investigation is underway, and officials said action will be taken based on witness statements and evidence collected from the spot.
