Surat: Dindoli police have booked three persons for the murder of a 26-year-old history-sheeter who was brutally beaten following a dispute over remarks about his wife.The victim, Dhiraj Singh Rajput, had six offences registered against him in the past and had been jailed twice under the PASA Act. According to police, accused Sunny Chauhan had been spreading rumours in Rajput’s circle that his wife was having an affair in their native place.Rajput had confronted Chauhan over the issue four days ago and the two quarrelled again on Wednesday night around 10pm, when Rajput allegedly slapped Chauhan multiple times.Police said that around 1am on Thursday, Chauhan returned to Rajput’s residence with his friend Atul Singh Bihari and took Rajput with them on the pretext of talking. Rajput’s roommate, Sonu Verma, also accompanied them.Around 6.30am, Chauhan and Bihari brought Rajput back to his room after allegedly beating him severely, leaving him with injuries all over his body. They told his roommates to provide him medical treatment and left.Rajput went to sleep, but when his roommates tried to wake him a few hours later, he did not respond. They called for medical help, but he was declared dead.Police have registered a case of murder against Chauhan, Bihari and Verma. Police said Chauhan and Verma are also history-sheeters, with a total of seven offences registered against them.
