Fire in three-storey house in Gopipura, no casualties

Surat:A three-storey house in Gopipura caught fire on Monday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Surat Fire and Emergency Services. Officials said a call reporting the blaze was received around 1.06pm, following which teams from three fire stations were dispatched. The fire broke out on the second floor of the house in Chandulal Master Sheri. Firefighters began operations immediately and brought the flames under control after more than an hour. No casualties were reported.Preliminary findings suggest the blaze may have been triggered by a lamp kept in a temple inside the house. At the time, family members were on the first floor and managed to evacuate safely. Furniture and electronic appliances, including air conditioners and televisions, were damaged.Fire officials said efforts focused on confining the blaze to the second floor, preventing it from spreading to other floors or neighbouring houses. The operation was challenging due to the locality’s dense construction, with houses built adjoining each other and separated only by common walls.Narrow lanes prevented fire engines from reaching the exact spot. Firefighters stretched hoses for nearly 500 metres to supply water. At least four fire tenders were deployed during the operation, officials said.
