Surat: A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death and his father injured during a quarrel that broke out following a dispute between children playing in a housing society at Kosad Awas in Surat on Sunday. Amroli police have arrested three of the four accused, while one remains at large.According to the complaint filed by Shabana Shaikh (36), the sister-in-law of the deceased Farid Bambawala (30), the incident began when her six-year-old son accidentally hit the daughter of her neighbour, Sadab Shaikh, while the children were playing in the housing society. An argument between the children soon escalated into a quarrel between the women of the two families.Police said Sadab’s brothers, Azad and Saddam, later arrived at the spot and joined the altercation. At that point, Bambawala and his father, Aziz Bambawala (68), intervened in an attempt to pacify both sides.However, the situation turned violent when Sadab, Azad and Saddam allegedly assaulted Farid and his father. Their fourth brother, Siraz, then arrived with a knife and allegedly stabbed Farid twice in the back. Siraz also allegedly attacked Aziz and Shabana with the knife.All three were rushed to SMIMER Hospital, where doctors declared Farid brought dead. Aziz sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. Farid, an auto-rickshaw driver, was married to Shabana’s sister. Police inspector J B Vanar said three accused — Sadab, Saddam and Siraz — have been arrested, while Azad is absconding.
