Surat: The immigration department at Surat International Airport has started collecting biometric data for passengers enrolled in the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP), officials said. The program is aimed at both Indian nationals and foreign nationals holding OCI cards, allowing them to clear immigration quickly and save time.
An official said, “We have set up biometric registration counters at both arrivals and departures. Once passengers’ passport and other details are registered on the FTI-TTP portal of the home ministry, they can complete biometric registration at the airport. After this, they can use e-gates at international airports for faster immigration clearance.”Currently, 13 international airports, including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Trivandrum, Trichy, and Lucknow, offer this facility. Surat International Airport will also provide the same service in the near future. The official added that while ‘Digi Yatra’ is available for domestic travellers, FTI-TTP is designed specifically to benefit international passengers.
