Kamrej murder accused nabbed in Tamil Nadu after 15 years on the run

Surat: The Surat Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) police have arrested a 40-year-old murder accused from Hosur city in Tamil Nadu, 15 years after the crime.The accused, Rajkumar Patel, was wanted in connection with the murder of Bharatprasad Patel in Kamrej town of Surat district on Jan 22, 2011. He had been absconding since the incident. As he could not be traced for years, the Surat superintendent of police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest.PCB police inspector RS Suvera said, “We received a tip-off that Patel was living in Hosur, an industrial city in Tamil Nadu. After verifying the information, we traced him to the campus of GDN Company in Hosur. A PCB team was sent there and arrested him from his workplace.”According to police, Patel had been changing locations frequently to evade arrest. During the past 15 years, he lived and worked in several states, including Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and avoided visiting his native state of Madhya Pradesh to escape detection.Police said Patel, along with his associates Abhimanyu, Ashok, Amarendra and Kallu, allegedly murdered Bharatprasad Patel following an old enmity. After the incident, Patel fled Surat and remained absconding.After completing legal formalities, Patel will be handed over to Kamrej police for further investigation.
