Surat: Dang police on Wednesday arrested three men in connection with the murder of a 53-year-old forest beat guard whose body was found near Borigavtha village on Jan 31, officials said.The accused were identified as Pravin Pawar (21), Hemant Sukira (20) and Rutvik Pawar (22). All three were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the crime.According to police, the victim, Sanat Birari, was posted at a check-post in Barkhandhya village. On the night of Jan 31, he was returning to his home in Vanzatamba village after duty when he noticed three men carrying a teakwood log near Borigavtha.Birari stopped them for questioning, but the trio allegedly attacked him with bamboo sticks and fled, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries and his body was found near the village.A murder case was registered at Waghai police station. As the case was initially blind, with no eyewitnesses or identified suspects, police formed 10 special teams to investigate the matter.“Since there were no leads, we questioned several people. After initial efforts, we received specific information about the suspects. They were hiding in a forest area, and based on the exact location inputs, they were arrested,” a police officer said.
