Surat: A 26-year-old woman, Shefali Kalaigar, a resident doctor in the paediatric department at New Civil Hospital, on Wednesday died of injuries suffered in a road accident. She was hit by an unknown vehicle while descending the Sahara Gate bridge on her scooter on Monday, when returning home from work at about 4pm.Kalaigar lived at Kansara Sheri in Mahidharpura. While descending the bridge opposite the Sahara Gate agricultural market, an unknown driver hit Shefali’s scooter, causing her injuries. She was first taken to SMIMER Hospital for treatment and later to a private hospital, where she succumbed last night.Her father is an LIC agent and her brother is studying in Canada. Mahidharpura police have registered an unnatural death and are searching for the unknown driver.
