PRODUCER: KESHU DIRECTOR: NEERAJ VORA STARRING: AKSHAY KUMAR, MAHIMA CHOUDARY, ANTRA MALI, SAYAJI SHINDE, MUKESH RISHI AND GULSHAN GROVER MUSIC: SANJEEV DARSHAN LYRICS: SAMEER ACTION: ABBAS ALI CHOREOGRAPHY: SAROJ KHAN / GANESH ACHARYA EDITING: MOHAMMED ASHFAQ Akshay Kumar has started seeing better days in his career thanks to various semi-hits and above average performers. His latest test is 'Khiladi 420' which has swiftly hit the big screen and also stars the beautiful Mahima Choudary, who recently appeared alongside Akki in 'Dhadkan'. Khiladi 420 also stars newcomer Antra Mali, who managed to make an impression in Ram Gopal Verma's 'Mast' with Urmila Matondkar and Aftab. She played Aftab's best friend in the movie, remember? The movie is, of course, the latest in the Khiladi series that made muscle man Akshay Kumar a household name. However, since the actor's career is in serious need of a blockbuster, he has high hopes for this particular project. Mahima plays a pretty young girl who has men fighting for her love, not only for her looks but also because she is the sole heir of her millionaire father's fortune. There are two men in particular who are making an effort to get together with Mahima, one of whom (Akshay Kumar) eventually succeeds and gets engaged to her. But this is after Mahima's father is ruthlessly killed, and the murderer's identity is unknown. Could it possibly be Akshay Kumar? Strangely enough the murders continue when Akshay is killed on the wedding night! Sounds confusing? Well, its hard for us to tell you much more without giving the story away…lets just say that Akshay's twin brother makes an appearance and things get a lot clearer! Akshay has gone on record to say that this is one of the best scripts for the Khiladi films to date, but that's not really true. The script and story line is complicated, and one of its main drawbacks is that it can confuse the audience. Akshay performance is quite good, and he shows talent in a negative role. Mahima is good too, and is constantly improving her performances. Her pairing with Akshay works well too. All those khiladi fans that have been loyal to Akshay in the past should like the film, but it does tend to drag a bit too much and the khiladi formula is getting a bit boring now. At best, the film will do decent business, but not outstanding. |
